KISHORE (KC) ARORA

National President of IDST (2025 & 26)

Kishore has been Vice President of IDST (2017-18) and President (2019-20) of IDST.

He is a Mechanical Engineering Graduate from PEC Chandigarh with Post graduate studies at IIT Mumbai (Design) and Bath University UK (Fluid Power Design).

He joined DRDO through SAAC at DIAT in Feb 1968. He worked at R&DE Engineers till July 1990 (as Deputy Director) when he sought voluntary retirement.

With his specialized learning in the field of Fluid Power, he was associated with many projects of DRDO having hydraulic applications like Bridge Layer Tanks, Radar Masts, and Mechanical Bridging Systems etc. He participated in Integrated Guided Missile Development Programme as Member of Management Boards of Trishul, Prithvi and Akash projects. He established Fluid Power facilities and Test Laboratory at R&DE Engineers Pune.

While at R&DEE, he attended many short-term courses like Works Study & Project Management at DIWS, Missouri, Servo Hydraulics Systems & Robotics at IIT Kanpur, Artificial Intelligence at IIT Kanpur, Workshop on Artificial Intelligence with 8 scientists from Carnegie Mellon University USA at Bangalore. In 1989, he was awarded “Commendation Certificate by the Scientific Adviser to Raksha Mantri, for his significant contribution to the `Integrated Guided Missile Programme’.

In 1990, he joined POONAWALLA Group as Director Technical; Established Elomatic India manufacturing Pneumatic Actuators and Control Valve Systems. Developed Qualification facilities for Pneumatic actuators for Nuclear power applications.

In 1995, he started working at FORBES MARSHALL GROUP till 2012 in various capacities, headed Valves Division, Corporate Engineering and Special Projects. During his stay there, he developed Multi spring Actuator, Variable Nozzle Desuper heaters, Flow Calibration Laboratories accredited by NABL, Production Tooling, Site Project execution of Crude Oil Metering System with On-line calibration at HPCL and BPCL on behalf of ONGC. He was a NABL Technical Assessor in the field of Fluid Flow.

His participation in International Workshop on “Management by Human Values” at IIM Calcutta, exposed him to a different aspect of human life. At present, he is an Independent Professional, Educationist, Trainer, Philanthropist, Social worker, Freemason.

He has authored 12 technical papers, mainly related to Fluid Power and Gauging System. He has conducted more than 150 training programs in Hydraulics, Industrial & Control Valves and Desuperheaters for Industry, academic institutes, Tradesmen, Defence Scientists, Continuing Education Programs for Engineering Faculty etc. He organised Two National seminars in Fluid Power. He is a Fellow of Institute of Engineers India, Life member and Founder Secretary of PUNE chapter of Fluid Power Society of India, ex member of American Fluid Power Association.

He is connected with many social organisations. He has widely travelled internationally. His two sons, Both Mechanical Engineers are settled in the US since 1997.
